With a ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ inspired riff, thumping bass-line and drums that hit furiously, SUPERMODEL is a rock n’ roll anthem cementing MÅNESKIN as one of the biggest rock bands around in 2022.

The Eurovision and X-Factor winning band are now more self-assured than ever, showing, once again, they’ve got what it takes to carve their own path. While leaning inwards to the mainstream, rather than the usual anarchy of a rock band, they continue on a meteoric rise to success.

MÅNESKIN consists of Damiano David (vocals), Victoria De Angelis (bass), Ethan Torchio (drums) and Thomas Raggi (guitar) and if you hadn’t realised yet, they’re an Italian glam-rock band.

The latest track, SUPERMODEL, comes a year after releasing their third (and most successful) studio album. Detailing the story of a superficial model after spending time in Los Angeles, MÅNESKIN build a vivid picture of stardom in the United States, through exceptionally simple and observational lyrics.

Touching on loneliness, substance abuse, fake love and wittingly turning to ‘Only Fans’, it’s an addictive track, a feel-good-listen, despite the dark undertone.

‘Alone at parties, she’s working around the clock
When you’re not looking, she’s stealing your Basquiat
Low-wasted pants on OnlyFans, I’d pay for that
She’s a ’90s supermodel

Yeah, she’s a monster, my compliments
If you wanna love her, just deal with that
She’ll never love you, you just look a bit like her dad
Every night’s a heartbreak’

The lyrics are fantastic and are almost sarcastic at points. Damiano calls out those superficial relationships in LA around choosing someone because they ‘look a bit like her Dad’, to continue the destructive cycle of those at the top.

‘Basquiat’ was an interesting thing to say too – who is an American artist, and died from a Heroin overdose in 1988, very (sadly) fitting for the song. He created one of the most expensive paintings ever purchased ($110.5 million), and the track is saying if you’re not careful, this super-model is going to sneakily take it from you when you’re least aware – almost a nod to money abuse (or, gold-digging).

‘She’ll never love you, more than money and cigarettes’ was a fun line earlier in the song – it stood out a lot. The references to drugs are very prominent in the song.

I absolutely love this new one, and it gets better with every listen. It doesn’t scream original, but it’s a non-stop glam-rock song full of roaring guitars, savage lyrical genius and the bad-ass appeal you want to feel when listening to a band like this.

Now, it’s your turn. Give it a spin, and tell us what you think on Insta or X.
