Weekly Roundup #22

Welcome to Roundup, showcasing the freshest tunes at the moment.

Another week, another roundup. Who are you spinning?

Perfume - Pale Waves

Channelling everything that’s come before them, the iconic four-piece Pale Waves are back with the lead single from their forthcoming album. Much more direct than ever before, Perfume is all about making that person your world. From the heavier rock that made up Unwanted, this track is an amped-up version of glistening indie pop.

ONE IN A MILLION - RATBOY

After returning with SURBURBIA CALLING the other month, RATBOY has dropped the second single from his new record on the way. This time featuring a guest, Lil Aaron. This track is the biggest indication of his new direction, which involves Brit Pop, hip hop and indie rock.

Under The Strikes - Yannis & The Yaw

After a chance encounter in 2017, Yannis (Foals) and Tony Allen (Femi Kuti) collaborated on several tracks through two days of sessions. After Allen’s passing in 2020, Yannis knew he needed to release the work. Blending this unexpected pair together has never sounded so good.

A Tear In Space (Airlock) - Glass Animals

Banger. What more can we say? Glass Animals are back in full swing, gearing up for their spaced-themed album on the horizon. Airlock is about an off-kiltered relationship and an emotional breakdown that followed. Considering the heart-wrenching subject, it’s unbelievably groovy and has us dancing for hours.

Andrew Metheven - Sister Winter

Sister Winter is a gorgeous compilation of 10 lofi-folk songs, which Metheven recorded at home. Drawing inspiration from Tallest Man On Earth, Iron & Wine and Fionn Regan, his aim was ‘to write music that makes sense of life in all its beauty, messiness and complexity.’ There’s a warmth radiating around this album, one which will shine bright this Autumn. Queue it up.

Now, it’s your turn. Give it a spin, and tell us what you think on Insta or X.
