Somebody’s Child has dropped third single Irish Goodbye, towards their sophomore effort When Youth Fades Away. The track follows two already-strong singles, Time Of My Life and Last Night I Held Your Hand, both of which have stacked indie playlists in recent weeks.

The title Irish Goodbye comes from the act of leaving a social event without saying goodbye. In the record context, the track presents a concept from the perspective of an older self-talking to their youth, with regret for taking it for granted.

Many of us never say goodbye to our childhood, before the whirlwinds of adult life settle in, and this track fits the coming-of-age narrative found elsewhere perfectly.

Speaking on the single, vocalist and songwriter Cian Godfrey said:

"'Irish Goodbye' is a breath of fresh air within the album itself, and exemplifies the tone and theme of the album best, in my opinion, from a lyrical standpoint. It highlights the transient nature of time, and on some level, it perhaps describes the parting of youth, without notice, at some point, unbeknownst to us."

When Youth Fades Away is a triumphant return for the Dublin star, recorded in the US with Grammy Award winner Peter Katis (The National, Interpol). The new album includes an eclectic mixture of influences, including the likes of Leonard Cohen and Kraftwerk - taking their musical journey beyond simply indie rock.
