Weekly Roundup #5

Welcome to Roundup, showcasing the freshest tunes at the moment.

Another week, another roundup. Alfie Templeman is back!

Eyes Wide Shut - Alfie Templeman

Channelling one of his biggest influences, Nile Rodgers, Alfie Templeman is back. Eyes Wide Shut is all about growing up and the struggles we all go through, but with an optimistic spin. Immediately catchy in Alfie’s signature groovy-floaty indie style, this tune is progressive and is a ray of sunshine to kick off the year.

Drifting - Corella

It’s here. The countdown to Corella’s huge debut album is on with the first single, Drifting. In typical Corella style, it’s in-your-face indie rock n’ roll. Picking up influences from the likes of Viola Beach, Kings Of Leon and anyone from the early 00s, Corella is on their way to the big leagues. They have a talent for perfecting catchy melodies with crowd-pleasing lyrics. And if you haven’t guessed, this one is about drifting through life. When it sounds this good, we should do so more often.

They Don’t Know How To Fall In Place - The Lemon Twigs

The Lemon Twigs, a band writing and producing like back in the 70’s. We’re not complaining - fondly remembering their opening slot at Arctic Monkeys in 2018.

This new track sounds more from the 60s, like a lost tune from The Beach Boys. Classy, theatrical and dance-worthy. Jump in the time machine, and enioy.

Throw - Courting

If you haven’t listened to Courting’s latest project, what are you doing? After tearing down Digbeth’s Rainbow Pub (catch our review), we revisited their second album. Throw sounds so 90’s, yet so fresh. And that guitar riff, is sexy.

Killer - Lizzie Esau

While not totally new, we’ve been super into Lizzie Esau’s EP ‘Deepest Blue’ lately, with our favourite being ‘Killer’. This tune is absolutely brilliant, with an addictive riff at the front and centre. It’s like Guns N’ Roses met Wolf Alice.

For fans of Swim School, Holly Humberstone and Overpass, you’ll love this discovery.

Now, it’s your turn. Give it a spin, and tell us what you think on Insta or X.

See you next week!
