Weekly Roundup #11
Welcome to Roundup, showcasing the freshest tunes at the moment.
Another week, another roundup. The return of Indoor Pets and Twenty One Pilots, among others.
Dopamine Girls - Indoor Pets
Indoor Pets returned after an extended hiatus this year, followed by a mini-tour and announcement of a sophomore album “Pathetic Apathetic which will be released on May 10th.
The second single, Dopamine Girls, is a huge indie-rock tune that takes what we know about the band and amps it to new heights. These new tracks seem heavier than before, which is an exciting prospect for the Kent four-piece.
Shotput - Still Woozy
You probably jumped on the Still Woozy bandwagon with massive single Goodie Bag. Since then, he’s been expanding the sweet grooves of his sound. - quite literally being the definition of DIY indie, recording in his personal garage/studio.
Shotput is another gorgeous track, all about making the ‘wrong things right, eventually’. We’ve been a big fan of Still Woozy for a while, and his continued expansion across every single is impressive, refreshing and mesmerising.
Stay - daisychain
daisychain, a new Manchester quartet, dropped their debut single this March, titled Stay. When you blend jangly indie pop, electronic music and introspective lyrics, you find yourself with a fresh new sound. Stay is a bold debut, marking a flag in the ground for what’s to come.
For fans of NewDad, Metronomy and The Last Dinner Party, jump onto daisychain now. Review coming soon.
Next Semester - Twenty One Pilots
This doesn’t sound like Twenty One Pilots. Maybe that’s a good thing? They’re no strangers to changing up their style each album - but this is definitely a huge step outside of what came before it. We’re here for it, because if you know this band, this is just one piece of a wider puzzle for their record.
We first saw glimpses into the next era for TOP after spotting red tape over previous album artworks on streaming platforms. Clancy drops on 17th May 2024.
boys (don’t) cry - bigsister
With a playful title nodding to The Cure, bigsister has returned with another emotionally-charged indie-pop track. Boys don’t cry, and this one does - is the narrative. But it’s her voice, incredible delivery and production which make this a worthy addition to your playlists. If you’re not in the loop with this upcoming artist, check out our previous review.
