Out Of This World is the latest from rising indie star Alexandra Leaving, due on 12th September 2024. The single was recorded at Metropolis Studios with producer Michael Smith (Wolf Alice), who also lent a hand crafting her addictive sound. This will be the first release since she dropped a stunning debut EP earlier this year.

Our review held this debut in high esteem, exclaiming: “An Exorcise in Anger is a solid debut, and sets the direction for a new alt-rock star ready to put her foot down and claim a top spot one day.”

Alex Leaving says the track is “about obsession, and how something can feel so out of reach yet totally consume you.”

On first listen, Out Of This World could be her best single. It’s bursting with a gnarly guitar riff, largely reminiscent of The Amazons or Crawlers. The intoxication feels palpable through every note, backed by absolutely gorgeous vocals.

She adds “I think there’s room for more women in rock music, for female rock vocalists. I’m inspired by ‘90s artists like Dolores O’Riordan of The Cranberries, Alanis Morrissette, Fiona Apple, PJ Harvey.”

These iconic artists are reflected vividly in everything she creates, and has already seen praise from BBC Radio 6, Radio X, BBC Introducing, KEXP and Amazing Radio.

Leaving has also recorded a fiery music video in a warehouse in North London. It’s well worth a watch and encapsulated the vibe nicely.

You can catch Alexandra Leaving at her next live date on 10th October, as she (and the band) play John Kennedy’s Remedy night at Signature Brew, Haggerston supporting Bull.

Out Of This World releases on 12/09/24. Pre-save now.
